The hotel we slept in last night was clean and well tended. It leaves us with a very good impression. It is nevertheless time to leave for Bisbee, an old mining town, our last visit in Arizona.

Monday, September 14, 2015 : Apache Trail

Rather than taking the direct way from Phoenix to Tucson, we spend most of the day on the Apache Trail, a route opened around the turn of last century, to ship materials, equipment and workers to the construction site of Roosevelt Dam, about 60 miles east of Phoenix.

This day is entirely devoted to Route 66, or whatever remains of it. In fact, considering sections that were forgotten, given back to nature, paved over by the Interstate or simply abandoned, not much remains of the original Mother Road.
