Thursday, September 3, 2015 : Hovenweep, Dead Horse Point, Arches, Moab

We leave Mesa Verde for Hovenweep, another pre-columbian site. What we did not know is that most points of interest are only accessible with ATVs or other adapted vehicles. Being kind of unadventurous with our rental Camaro, we give up.

We arrive in Moab very early in the afternoon.

Dead Horse Point State Park

Dead Horse Point State Park

We decide to visit a park we did not know, close by, Dead Horse Point State Park, where a few scenes of Thelma and Louise have been shot, including the famous final scene of the canyon jump.

Apart of that, this park is really worth the miles, with spectacular cliffs and a very thin vegetation, close to that of the deserts.

Delicate Arch, Arches National Park

Delicate Arch, Arches National Park

Since we are the stubborn kind, we return to Arches National Park. We had already been there 5 years ago, but with a badly overcast weather. Today, the sun shines, exactly what it takes to climb again to Delicate arch, probably the most famous arch in the park.

We make it to the top just in time to watch the sunset. The light is gorgeous, so are the pictures. The place is crowded, but who cares ? We absolutely enjoy the show.
