Friday, September 29, 2017 : From Atlanta to Cherokee

This morning, we leave Atlanta and drive up to Cherokee, in the heart of the Native nation of the same name, at the gates of Great Smoky Mountains National Park, which straddles the stateline between Tennessee and North Carolina.

Mingo Falls

We make it at the beginning of the afternoon and immediately check in at the hotel. We now have all the afternoon before us to discover this park that features, among others, many cascades.

A few miles further, we hike up to Mingo Falls cascade, quite dramatic along its cliff. Marie tries on new photo techniques, and her first achievements look quite convincing.

Tom Branch Falls

Later, after a visit and a short shopping spree at the visitor center, we leave the the park and enter it again a few miles west.

In the forest, we hike up to three small cascades. Marie proceeds with her photography applied works. The detail of Tom Branch Falls above seems to satisfy her.

The last few pictures have actually been taken under a seriously declining light. It is now time to drive back to Cherokee and have dinner.
